I once had a sudden realization that English might become a stumbling block in my life. So, starting last year, I started diligently studying English.
About a month into my studies, I saw an ad for a device that uses AI technology to provide translations instantly.. Seeing this made me question whether I really needed to study English. Plus, using ChatGPT made it so easy to write e-mails in English that it shook my determination to continue learning.
However, I came to believe that such technologies will be most effective if I have a solid foundation in English myself. With this renewed mindset, I’ve been studying consistently. I hope that one day I’ll be able to speak and write freely in English. I am committed to working hard to achieve that goal.

영어가 내 인생의 걸림돌이 될 수도 있겠다는 생각을 문득 한 적이 있다. 그래서 작년부터 부지런히 영어 공부를 시작했다.
영어 공부를 시작한 지 한 달쯤 되었을 때 인공지능 기술을 이용해 즉시 번역을 해주는 기기 광고를 봤다. 그것을 보면서 정말 영어를 공부할 필요가 있는지 의문이 들었다. 게다가 ChatGPT를 사용하면 영어로 이메일을 쓰는 것이 너무 쉬워져서 계속 공부해야겠다는 의지가 흔들렸다.
하지만 이러한 기술도 영어에 대한 탄탄한 기초가 있어야 가장 효과적이라는 믿음이 생겼다. 새로운 마음가짐으로 꾸준히 공부하고 있다. 언젠가는 영어로 자유롭게 말하고 쓸 수 있기를 바라고, 그 목표를 달성하기 위해 열심히 노력할 것이다.

A: That’s exactly what I’m worried about.
B: Think of it this way- the AI era has made it much easier to study English.
