Since September 2023, I’ve been studying English news through the “귀트영” program on EBS. I had tried to study English news before, but I couldn’t stay consistent and eventually gave up. But this time, “귀트영” helped me establish a solid routine for studying English news.
Because English news includes complex content and vocabulary, preparation is essential. I listen to audio clips again and again, reading the news text as I listen. During the broadcast, I use Google Keep to take notes on the explanations from the two instructors. By organizing key words, synonyms, and antonyms, and summarizing articles, I gradually build my own vocabulary book.
Afterward, I read the English news aloud. I sometimes discuss the day’s topic with my husband. Studying this way has made English news genuinely enjoyable. I’m able to improve my vocabulary without consciously trying to memorize words and phrases.

2023년 9월부터 EBS의 '귀트영' 프로그램을 통해 영어 뉴스를 공부하고 있다. 예전에도 영어 뉴스 공부를 시도했지만 꾸준히 하지 못하고 결국 포기한 적이 많았다. 하지만 이번 '귀트영'을 통해 영어 뉴스 공부 루틴을 탄탄하게 잡을 수 있었다.
영어 뉴스는 복잡한 내용과 어휘를 포함하고 있기 때문에 준비가 필수다. 나는 오디오 클립을 반복해서 들으면서 뉴스 본문을 공부한다. 방송 중에는 Google Keep을 사용하여 두 선생님의 설명을 메모한다. 핵심 단어, 유의어, 반의어를 정리하고 기사를 요약하면 점차 나만의 어휘장이 만들어진다.
그 후에는 영어 뉴스를 낭독한다. 가끔 남편과 그날 뉴스 주제에 대해 대화를 나누기도 한다. 이런 식으로 공부하니 영어 뉴스가 정말 재미있어졌다. 의식적으로 단어와 표현을 외우려고 노력하지 않아도 어휘가 늘어간다.
