I have been part of a book club for 4 years now. We first met as the moms of our kids' neighborhood friends. But then we came to learn that we were all bookworms. Thanks to a can-do leader, we formed out club. We choose two books each month by a vote. We then read those books and have a discussion via online chat. We read all sorts of books, including novels, essays, the liberal arts, history, and poetry.
This year, we are reading the epic novel Toji, which is 20 volumes long. I probably would have called it quits midway if I had tackled it alone. But we have been encouraging each other and sharing out thoughts, and now we are almost finished. Learning about subjects I had no interest in before, and hearing the opinions of people with different perspectives are some of the advantages of reading together.
- I admire her can-do attitude. / We hired a can-do applicant.
- Would you care to share your thoughts? / It's not easy to share one's thoughts in front of strangers.
- You can learn a lot from someone with a different perspective.
1: Did you say you're in a book club? Is that any fun?
2: It sure is. it's amazing how everyone has a different take on a single book.
1: That must be interesting.
2: And it's great to expand my thoughts and my world view.
1: I'd like to participate in something like that.
2: I can send you an invite, if you'd like.
