Blood Sugar Levels

Even after eating a hearty breakfast, you might feel hungry again quickly on some days, or less so on other days. This is because each food has a different glycemic index.

The glycemic index is a measure of how quickly certain foods raise blood sugar levels, as glucose is metabolized and absorbed after a meal. Food with a high glycemic index can readily be converted into glucose. This causes a spike in blood sugar levels, and the body produces excessive amounts of insulin. Insulin stores glucose as fat, before the body can tap it for energy.

If you get the munchies even when it hasn't been long since you last ate, it's because you ate something with a high glycemic index. To manage your weight effectively, it's important to give a wide berth to foods with a high glycemic index. You shoulc instead opt fot foods with a low index.
