Our English study group was formed last year so that we could learn together. The average age of our members is over 65. We are guided by a teacher who majored in English and currently works as an English instructor.
Each week, we select one entry from the “입트영” workbook. After studying the content together, we have to memorize it entirely by the next session. At first, the memorization was so difficult that it felt overwhelming. But we gradually got the hang of it as we kept reading passages aloud and memorizing them. Our teacher often commends us for improving our pronunciation.
I want to keep learning English as a hobby even into my 80s, as a way to prevent dementia. I’d like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to our teacher for volunteering to help us.

우리 영어 스터디 그룹은 작년에 결성되어 함께 공부하고 있다. 회원들의 평균 연령은 65세 이상이다. 영어를 전공하고 현재 영어 강사로 활동 중인 선생님의 지도를 받고 있다.
매주 '입트영' 교재에서 한 편을 선정한다. 함께 내용을 공부한 후 다음 회차까지 완전히 암기해야 한다. 처음에는 암기가 너무 어려워서 감당하기 힘들기도 했다. 하지만 계속 큰 소리로 본문을 읽고 암기하면서 점차 요령이 생겼다. 선생님께서도 발음이 좋아졌다고 자주 칭찬해 주셨다.
치매 예방을 위해 80대에도 취미로 영어를 계속 배우고 싶다. 이 기회를 빌려 우리를 도와주신 선생님께 감사의 말씀을 전하고 싶다.
