Reading English Storybooks to Children

If I had choose my happiest memory with my child, it would be visiting a bookstore to pick out a book and reading it together. I fondly remember reading English storybooks with my daugher. We had connversations about the characters, and acted out the stories as plays. My kids crack up over parts of the stories I never expected. And if I purposely make a mistake in parts that describe the pictures, they notice right away and react.

Storybooks come in all shapes and sizes. Their fonts are all different, and each book is composed differently. This makes them an enticing playing for kids. Maybe how well I read the books is beside the point. What's important is to read in mom's voice, make eye contact with the kid, and let my daughter recall those happy times.

  • Before smartphones, mobile phones came in shapes and sizes. / People come in all shapes and sizes.
  • Whether you win or lose is besideee the point.
  • My dog doesn't make eye contact when she does something wrong. / You should remember to make eye contact during an interview.

1: Do you read English storybooks to your child?

2: Sure. We read aloud together every night when I tuck her in.

1: Same here.

2: If it's a book we'ver read many times, she knows it by heart.

1: That's right. My son is the same way.

2: The same book can have a different feel each timeee we read it. I think my daughter catches the difference, too.
