Pro Baseball’s “RetDuro” Day

Recently, professional baseball teams have been hosting various special event days to boost attendance by fans at ballgames. A few days ago, my favorite baseball team held its so-called “RetDuro Day Series” with a retro theme. RetDuro is a compound word combining “retro” and “Doosan.”

Throughout the three-day series, they sold tickets featuring the team’s old mascot. Outfield seats were discounted to 3,000 won, just like in the good old days. The cheerleaders wore items that were all the rage in the 70s and 80s while they cheered on the team.

Instead of the player’s usual entrance songs, they played songs selected by the players from their school days. I hope to see more diverse special events in the future that can draw fans to the baseball stadium.

the good old days - a time in the past when they think that life was better than it is now

be all the rage - to be very popular at a particular time

score - to succeed in an activity or to achieve something

A: Are you planning to visit the ballpark to take in a game?

B: I want to, but it’s really hard to score tickets.

A: It’s especially a tall order on weekends.

B: Is it a little easier on weekdays?

A: Yes, that’s right. Also, there are various days with special events, so be sure to check them out.

B: Oh, really? I’ll make sure to do that.
