Learning to Drive

I got my driver's license when I had some free time before starting college. But for ten years, I rarely had occasion to drive. My license fell into disuse. My husband sits in the passenger seat and helps on the occasional short trip. But his constant nagging about my mistakes was too much to bear. I started to avoid driving.

My husband and I were an office couple until recently. We commuted together, so I rarely had to drive. But he has had a heavier workload since he changed jobs. It often fell to me to pick up the kids in our car. Thankfully, I haven't gotten into any accidents while the car was in motion. But I did get some dents and dings on the car while parking. I never thought that I would miss having my husband nitpick about my driving.

2: I'm starting to get the hang of driving, but parking is still really difficult.

1: It's like that for everyone at first.

2: Last time, I dinged up my wing mirror while I was parking.

1: I have been there, too.

2: Really? I guess it's like a rite of passage for all novice drivers.
