“The road to Santiago” or “Camino de Santiago” is a pilgrimage route that extends from Saint-Jean in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, a distance of 830 km. It’s one of the most visited routes by pilgrims from around the world each year. It’s probably on many people’s bucket lists.
It was a lifelong dream for me, too, and I finally made the pilgrimage by bicycle last May. It was moving beyond words to see places with my own two eyes that I had only known through books in world geography class.
It was a precious time to look back on my life and have conversations with myself, immersed in the breathtaking landscapes of the great outdoors.
I hope many others will get the opportunity to experience the “Camino de Santiago” pilgrimage route.

"산티아고 가는 길"은 프랑스 '생장'부터 스페인의 산티아고 데 콤포스텔라까지 이어지는 830km에 이르는 순례길이다. 매년 전 세계 순례자들이 가장 많이 찾는 길 중 하나다. 아마도 많은 사람들의 버킷리스트에 들어 있을 것이다.
나 역시 평생의 꿈이었고, 지난 5월 마침내 자전거로 순례길에 올랐다. 세계지리 수업 시간에 책으로만 접했던 곳을 두 눈으로 직접 보니 말로 표현할 수 없는 감동이 밀려왔다. 대자연의 아름다운 풍경에 푹 빠진 채 지나온 삶을 되돌아보며 자신과의 대화를 할 수 있는 소중한 시간이었다.
많은 분들이 '산티아고 순례길'을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 얻었으면 좋겠다.
